Empowering our community through discipline, excellence and sportsmanship.

World Best Sports Academy (WOBSA) is a multi-sport community academy formed in Thohoyandou — coaching athletics, football, netball, cricket, rugby and rowing, and putting on the road races the whole region turns out for.

Who we are

Athletics is one department. Community is the whole point.

Formally constituted on 26 January 2021 and based at Kwamashu Centre, opposite Phangami Shopping Mall in Maniini, Thohoyandou, WOBSA exists to form, administer and finance sports departments for our members and the wider community — while keeping proper playing fields, facilities and coaching in place for everyone who wants to take part.

We don't discriminate on the grounds of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. Every rand of surplus income gets reinvested in the academy — there are no profits paid out to individuals.

  • Six sporting departments, each with its own elected management team
  • Annual and honorary membership open to the community
  • Organisers of the NHC-WOBSA Development Road Race, run under WA, ASA and LIMA rules
  • A dedicated Disability & Elderly Officer and Youth & Children's Officer on our committee
